I am addicted to Gilmore Girls

So, a couple of weeks ago my sister told me that she thinks the WB show Gilmore Girls if funny.

I have always just flipped channels or scanned over it before so over thanksgiving break I caught a couple of shows.....well now I am hooked.....addicted maybe...no, I am obsessed.

I went to go rent the first season Friday night, but they did not have them...but they did have them to buy...so I bought it.

21 episodes with each episode lasting around 45 min. I had a marathon..instead of studying for the Pharmacology final tomorrow.
The marathon began around 6pm on friday and went till 2am. I slept till 8am and started again at 8:30am. I was done with the marathon around 6:30pm sat. (Cindy, this is where I was all weekend)

I did not plan to do this, but I could not press stop. In fact, a tear came to my eye as I was ejecting the last DVD.

So, the show is in its 6th season and I need to catch up.

I find it amazing that there can be something in our lives that we pass over time and again, but when we finally give in and take the time to "get to know it" we find that it makes our lives better for knowing it.

Yes, I realize that Gilmore Girls is just a TV show, and the characters are not real, but there are numerous lessons we can learn from this show. For example, A mother and daughter can be best friends and still have respect for the fact that one is a mother and the other is a daughter. Also, it shows that our lives can be blessed my having a variety of friends from different backgrounds who have different tastes. And another is that communication is the key to a successful realsonship whether it is with your parents, friends to significant other.

Laughter my friends. You can't frown when your laughing.

Take the time to look around and see what you are missing.

Remember, Don't be Jealous. Jealousy is bad. Jealousy can lead to jail, twice. .. Gilmore-ism
.......but to me giving birth was like doing the splits on a crate of dynamite....Gilmore-ism

Corn hole and walking down I-40

I sure some of you are wondering what exactly corn hole is. Well, I wondered that myself. It is a game that we all know, but we know it by various names. In the previous post there is a pic of the corn hole hardware. Two wedge shaped boxes with a hole in it are placed facing each other about 2.5 car lengths apart. The rules of the game are: 4 people play with 2 on each team. 1 member of each team stands with a member of the other team at one box. Each thrower has 4 bean bags. The other team members are at the other box. One at a time each player tosses a bean bag at the opposite box. If the bag goes in the hole it is worth 3 pts, if it land on the box it is worth 1pt, and if it does not land on the box = 0 pts. Also, when two bags land on the box from opposing teams they cancel each other out. so if a bag goes in the hole and the other team has a bag on the surface, the team that hit the hole only has 2 pts since the bag on the surface canceled one pt from the 3 pts.
The rules are really easy and if you do not understand from my description you have find the rules on the internet. Play, it is addicting. Oh yeah, the pic of it is not correct placement of the boxes. We changed it for the kids.

Now, WALKING DOWN I-40
Last friday Cara, Amanda, Jeremy and I were on our way to Knoxville for the TN/USC game. We left NV around 6:30pm and at 7:45pm there was a crash ahead of that was really bad. We ended up sitting in one spot for about an hour. To pass the time we made a video. It is funny. At one point I got out of the care to video all the backed up traffic and as I stood in the middle of I-40 a trucker kept honking.
Jeremy started walking down the road to find the next mile marker while I was talking to Kristen D. on the phone to try to figure out what happened. I went to find Jeremy and on the way back to the car everyone in there cars kept asking me what had happened.
I got to talk to quite a few people who thought their destination was soo much more important than everyone elses. It made me see how self focused we all are.
I usully get frustrated in traffic jams, but I enjoyed this one. Had we not been stopped we might not have made our verison of THE Blair witch project..."WHAT WAS THAT?"

Talking to cops at 5 am

Where should I start..ok yes..Picture it ..Sicily 1895..just kidding...but do picture this...A hard working grad student sleeping soundly with a smile on her face at 6am on her Friday morning off. Then wham..a jackhammer awakens her in a fright. Yes folks, I was that grad student. About 3 fridays ago I was awaken by a construction crew outside my window at 6 am. I got up anyway cause I needed to do some studying. No big deal. Well, the next day (sat) my class had to go spend the day with some children with special needs for their annual sports day. At 4:30am I am awaken by the sound of jackhammers..AGAIN. This time I had had it. The city has been redoing Church street since I moved in and for some reason they feel the need to work on sat mornings. Well, I was fumming. I slid open my window and stared the construction crew down. My death rays periced their souls. I got my video camrea out and taped the event. Can you picture me hanging out of my 5th floor apratment window shooting footage of a street repavement. I tried to go back to sleep but I think the jackhammer just got louder. Hang on a sec and let me describe this JH. It is not one you see busting up a little area, this JH was industrial strength..it was hooked to AND controlled by a tractor. After contemplating what to do I put on a sweatshirt and went on the search for the foreman of this crew. I make my way down to the street and find my neighbor getting coffee out of our starbucks dispensor ( he couldn't sleep either and was going to a hotel) I am on a mission..I find a cop standing on the sidewalk watching the whole thing take place. I asked him...very nicely and without attitude..Is there a reason this needs to be done at 4 in the morning. He tells me that yes, it must be done at night so that it will not disturb traffic in the daytime. OH why did I not realize that having cars detour a block over is much more distrubing then waking up 100 residents at night. Lets just say more words were spoken as the foreman came over, of course I did all the talking. he just stated that this was the Mayor's project. I bet the mayor would not want this JH under his window at 4 am.
By the time I came home that evening the street was paved and all jackhammers were sleeping.
This week they striped the entire street. I guess the mayor didn't like the job they did, so they get to so it again. Thats what we are paying for in taxes here in Nashvagas.
